WHO IS PROFESSOR ELDRIN NIGHTSHADE? A Document Recovered from the Archives of the Seventh Atelier Classification: Introductory — Cleared for Public Distribution

SUBJECT: Professor Eldrin Nightshade TITLE: Alchemist Extraordinaire, Chronicler of Rare Botanicals, Occasional Time Traveler LOCATION: The Seventh Atelier — a tea shop of destiny situated just outside the boundaries of present reality STATUS: Active. Mostly accounted for.

There are places in the world that exist slightly sideways from everything else. Places where the air smells faintly of old books and something brewing, where the light falls at an angle that doesn't quite match the hour, and where the door, when you find it, opens onto something you weren't entirely expecting.

The Seventh Atelier is one of those places.

It is, on the surface, a tea and coffee shop — and a remarkable one at that. The shelves are lined with tins of extraordinary blends, each one named, storied, and crafted with a precision that borders on the arcane. The atmosphere is warm. The brews are exceptional. And behind the counter, more often than not, stands its proprietor: a tall, silver-haired figure in a long dark coat, peering at something through round spectacles with the focused intensity of a man who has seen considerably more of the universe than he is currently letting on.

That man is Professor Eldrin Nightshade.

WHAT IS KNOWN

Professor Nightshade is, by his own description, an alchemist — though the word barely covers it. He is a scholar of rare botanicals, a chronicler of the extraordinary, and a student of time in the most literal sense of the phrase. His knowledge of herbs, blends, and botanical compounds spans centuries and dimensions, and his ability to transform raw ingredients into something that feels, upon the first sip, like remembering something you never knew — is unmatched in any realm currently on record.

He is also, on occasion, a time traveler. He does not advertise this. It tends to complicate the paperwork.

The Atelier itself is his workshop, his laboratory, and his post — a pocket dimension tethered to the present world by something older and more deliberate than geography. It exists where it needs to exist, opens when it needs to open, and has a way of finding the people who need to find it. Whether this is by design or by the nature of the place itself is a question the Professor declines to answer directly, though he has been known to smile in a way that suggests he knows more than he's saying.

Which, to be clear, he always does.

THE TREE OF TIME

At the heart of the Professor's world — and at the heart of the Atelier's deeper purpose — stands something ancient beyond reckoning: the World Tree, known in certain texts as the Tree of Time. It is the axis around which the Atelier quietly turns, the source from which certain extraordinary blends draw their most remarkable properties, and the reason Professor Nightshade is not merely a shopkeeper, but a steward — a keeper of something vast and irreplaceable.

The details of that stewardship are not recorded here.

They are, however, recorded elsewhere. In time.

WHAT HE OFFERS

To the adventurer who finds their way through the Atelier's door, Professor Nightshade offers something deceptively simple: a remarkable cup.

Each blend in the Atelier's collection has been crafted with intention — named for the worlds that inspired it, the creatures encountered in its making, or the particular quality of magic it carries in the cup. Some restore. Some invigorate. Some, the Professor notes with characteristic understatement, are best consumed before making decisions of significant consequence.

All of them tell a story.

That is, ultimately, what the Seventh Atelier is: a place where stories are brewed, bottled, and handed across a counter to whoever needs them most. A potion shop for the modern adventurer. A sanctuary for those who suspect the world is stranger and more wonderful than it appears — and who would like, very much, a cup of something extraordinary while they consider the implications.

A NOTE FROM THE PROFESSOR

"You've found us. That's the first thing — and it matters more than you know. The Atelier does not appear to everyone, and it does not appear by accident. Whatever brought you here — curiosity, recommendation, or simply the particular pull of a good story — welcome. The tea is always brewing. The shelves are always stocked. And the door, as you've already discovered, was never really locked.

I look forward to brewing something remarkable for you.

— E. Nightshade"

The Seventh Atelier. Just outside present reality. You'll know the door when you find it.
